Privacy Policy

In short: we don’t ask for your personal details. There are no forms, accounts or sign-ups on DebtSolution.net, and our calculators and help finder run in your browser without sending anything to us. We use Google Analytics to count visits, our web host keeps standard server logs, and if you email us we use your message to reply. This policy explains each of these under UK data protection law.

Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is the operator of DebtSolution.net. You can contact us about privacy at info@debtsolution.net.

What we collect and why

Website analytics (Google Analytics 4)

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how many people visit, which pages are useful and how people find the site. When you visit, Google Analytics collects information such as the pages you view, how long you stay, the website or search that referred you, your approximate location (town or country, worked out from your IP address), and your device, browser and screen size. It identifies returning visitors with a random ID stored in a cookie.

Google Analytics 4 does not log or store full IP addresses; Google uses them briefly to work out approximate location and then discards them. We don’t use Google Analytics advertising features, and we never try to identify individual visitors.

Why: our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used so we can improve it. Google acts as our data processor under its data processing terms.

Server logs

Like almost every website, our hosting provider automatically records technical information when your browser requests a page: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, your browser type and any error messages. These logs are used to keep the site secure and working, and are kept by the host for a limited period.

Why: our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website.

Emails you send us

If you email us, we receive your email address, name (if you include it) and whatever you write. We use this only to reply and, for corrections, to fix the page. Please don’t send details of your debts or finances — we can’t advise on individual cases.

Why: our legitimate interest in answering your message.

What we don’t collect

  • We have no forms, accounts, newsletters or comment sections.
  • Our debt calculator and our free help finder run entirely in your browser. What you enter isn’t sent to us or to anyone else, and isn’t stored.
  • We don’t sell, rent or pass on personal data to debt companies, lenders or lead generators.

Cookies

DebtSolution.net doesn’t set its own cookies. The only cookies are set by Google Analytics:

CookieSet byPurposeExpires
_gaGoogle AnalyticsDistinguishes visitors with a random ID2 years
_ga_<ID>Google AnalyticsKeeps track of the current visit (session)2 years

How to refuse or delete analytics cookies

  • Block or delete cookies in your browser settings — the site works normally without them.
  • Install Google’s Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
  • Use a browser or extension that blocks tracking scripts.

You can read more about how Google uses data at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Who we share data with

  • Google (Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC), which provides Google Analytics as our processor. Google may process data in the United States; transfers are covered by the UK’s data protection safeguards for international transfers, such as the UK–US data bridge and standard contractual clauses.
  • Our web hosting provider and email provider, which process server logs and emails on our behalf.
  • Authorities, if we are legally required to share information.

We don’t share data with anyone else, and nobody pays us for it.

How long we keep data

  • Google Analytics: user-level and event-level data is kept for no more than 14 months, then deleted automatically. Aggregated reports (for example, total visits per month) don’t identify anyone and may be kept longer.
  • Server logs: kept by our hosting provider for a short period for security and troubleshooting, then deleted.
  • Emails: kept only as long as we need them to deal with your message and any follow-up, then deleted.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you (subject access);
  • ask us to correct inaccurate data;
  • ask us to delete your data;
  • ask us to restrict how we use your data;
  • object to our use of your data based on legitimate interests; and
  • ask for your data in a portable format, where that applies.

To use any of these rights, email info@debtsolution.net. We’ll respond within one month. Analytics data is pseudonymous and isn’t linked to your name or email, so we may not be able to find data about you in Google Analytics — but you can stop it being collected using the options in Cookies.

Complaints

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, helpline 0303 123 1113.

Children

This site is intended for adults. We don’t knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use data — for example, if we ever add advertising or a contact form — we will update this page before the change takes effect and change the “last updated” date above.
